Most visits to Student Health Services are free. There is a cost associated with vaccinations, some supplies (crutches, air casts), emergency contraception, office lab tests & TB skin tests. When outside laboratory testing is ordered by a SHS doctor or nurse practitioner, we will draw your blood and send it to Quest Diagnostics or Lab Corp and instruct them to bill your insurance. You would be responsible for any out-of-pocket charges. Prescription medicine can be ordered electronically to the pharmacy of your choice, or we can send your prescription to Quick Chek Pharmacy on Pennington Road and they will deliver your medicine to Student Health Services free of charge before our office closes that same day. We can fax the front & back of your prescription card to the Pharmacy so that they can bill your insurance. You can then pick it up from our office and would be responsible for any co-pays.
We don’t bill outside insurance. Students are responsible for payment of chargeable items at the time of their visit to our office. We accept cash, personal checks, MasterCard, Visa and Discover. There are a few items that we will bill to the Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP). These include office lab tests, crutches, & air casts, and annual flu shots. This year’s SHIP policy covers most things we order (x-rays, ultrasounds, laboratory tests, vaccinations, physicals, TB tests) without any additional cost to you. The SHIP policy also covers up to $500 of prescription medicine for the policy year which ends August 15, 2013 (ordered by us or any other health professional and taken to any pharmacy that accepts “CareMark” prescription cards). For more information and to print out your SHIP ID card and prescription card, go to the Bollinger Insurance website.

Planned Parenthood
Female reproductive health services are provided on campus by Planned Parenthood of the Mercer Area, Inc. Planned Parenthood accepts most insurance plans, including the Student Health Insurance Plan. Sometimes students only have parent health insurance and do not want Planned Parenthood to bill that insurance plan because they want their visit to remain private. Planned Parenthood will work with you to establish a cost for services on a sliding scale. Birth control is available through Planned Parenthood at a very reduced cost (e.g., $3 for 30-day pill packs). For more information, call the Planned Parenthood office at TCNJ on Tuesdays and Wednesdays during the semester and talk to Jill.
