Waiver Procedure for the Spring 2012 Semester

Enrollment in the TCNJ Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) is mandatory for students registered full time (undergraduates enrolled in 3 or more units per semester; graduate students enrolled in 9 or more credit hours per semester).  However a waiver can be applied by students who will have health insurance coverage with at least basic hospital benefits throughout the upcoming semester, and who submit the online Waiver Form providing evidence of health insurance coverage during the Waiver Period.

Students will need the following information to complete the Waiver Form:

  • Name of health insurance company
  • Subscriber (who in your family has this policy – mom, dad, you?)
  • ID number on the policy
  • Telephone number for the health insurance company

 

WAIVER PERIODS

STUDENTS WHO REGISTERED FOR SPRING 2012 CLASSES BEFORE 11/18/2011:  Waiver Period begins on Friday, 11/18/2011 and ends on Wednesday, 1/11/2012.  Students will be emailed the link to the waiver form on November 18th.

STUDENTS WHO REGISTERED FOR SPRING 2012 CLASSES BETWEEN 11/18/2011 and 12/15/2011:  Waiver Period begins on Friday, 12/16/2011 and ends on Wednesday, 1/11/2012.  Students will be emailed the link to the waiver form on December 16, 2011.

STUDENTS WHO REGISTERED FOR SPRING 2012 CLASSES BETWEEN 12/16/2011 and 1/4/2012:  Waiver Period begins on Thursday, 1/4/2012 and ends on Wednesday, 1/11/2012.  Students will be emailed the link to the waiver form on January 5, 2012.

STUDENTS WHO REGISTERED FOR SPRING 2012 CLASSES BETWEEN 1/5/2012 and 1/17/2012:  Waiver Period begins on Wednesday, 1/18/2012 and ends on Wednesday, 1/25/2012.  Students will be emailed the link to the waiver form on January 18, 2012.

AFTER THE WAIVER DEADLINE

Students who are registered full-time for the spring 2012 semester and did NOT submit a Waiver Form during the Waiver Period will be enrolled in SHIP and responsible for the $150.00 premium.  The SHIP policy begins on 1/15/2012 and ends on 8/15/2012.

PART-TIME STUDENTS

Students registered part-time (less than 3 or more units: undergraduate students; or less than 9 or more credit hours: graduate students) are not required by N.J. State law to maintain health insurance and are therefore exempt from mandatory enrollment in the Student Health Insurance Plan.   Part-time students will not be billed or enrolled in SHIP unless they enroll on their own. INTERNATIONAL EXCHANGE STUDENTS

International exchange students are not permitted to waive enrollment in the Student Health Insurance Plan.
